## Cricket Batting Average Batting average in cricket is the total runs scored divided by the number of times the batsman was dismissed (not total innings). ### Formula **Batting Average = Total Runs / (Innings - Not Outs)** Unlike baseball, cricket averages use dismissals rather than plate appearances. Not-out innings (where the batsman remained unbeaten) are excluded from the denominator, which can inflate averages for lower-order batsmen who are frequently not out.
