## How Much Rice Per Person

### Formula

**Total Rice (dry) = People x Serving Size**

### Standard Serving Sizes (dry rice)

- Side dish: 50-75 g (about 1/4 to 1/3 cup)
- Main course: 90-130 g (about 1/2 to 2/3 cup)

Rice absorbs about 1.5x its weight in water. Use a 1:1.5 ratio of rice to water for white rice (absorption method).

  1. Serving: 75 g dry per person.
  2. Total: 4 x 75 = 300 g dry rice.
  3. In cups: 300 / 185 = 1.6 cups.
  4. Water needed: 300 x 1.5 = 450 mL.
  5. Cooked weight: 300 x 2.5 = 750 g.
